I thought I would start this blog to talk about the world of Boston Public Relations Firms, and how they have been changing in recent years. With the billions of people using the internet, it is only natural that the industry has followed, and is now in the process of moving online to a 2.0 world.
Traditional Public Relations encompasses all aspects of managing and controlling an organization or company’s information to the public. Through media practices, Boston Public Relations Firms help companies build, manage, and promote a reputation through reliable and credible third party outlets. This can be accomplished in several manners including speeches, awards, press coverage, etc. Although traditional practices of Public Relations have not totally expired, the conversion from material media to the web has revolutionized the way Boston Public Relations firms approach the trade.
The idea of Public Relations 2.0 includes all multimedia, which reaches the masses through new technological mediums. New developments in social media and social networking have made it easier than ever for Boston Public Relations Firms to understand what is going on in the industries in which they represent. Through methods such as video sharing and social networking sites, messages get released to the public instantly, and the feedback from the messages happens instantly as well. In short, it takes the guess work out when it comes to understanding what a consumer wants/needs out of their products and allows companies to cater to those needs faster than ever before.
There are many useful tools when it comes to incorporating PR 2.0 into any campaign that I will discuss further in later posts… so I think that is going to be all for today!
